• Information

  Literature is available on Alcohol & Drug Abuse, The disease of addiction.The progression & treatment of substance abuse, Women and Alcohol, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Substance abuse in the workplace, Alcohol and the Elderly, Children of Alcoholics, HIV/AIDSCompulsive Gambling, and Symptoms of Alcoholism.

• Referral

  Upon request, referrals are made to AA, NA, AL-ANON, Support Groups, therapists, and treatment facilities.

• Training

  In-service training sessions are provided for professionals working in related fields: medicine, therapy, criminal justice, education, the elderly, and the clergy.

• Public Awareness

  Funding, legislation, treatment research, FAS, and other major issues are presented to the community through a variety of media resources.

• Educational Programs

  We introduced and continues to provide assistance to Bergen County schools in implementing the Heres Looking at You, 2000 K-12 Seattle curriculum. The program focuses on information, self-concept, decision-making, and coping skills. The National institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism considers this to be the most comprehensive alcohol and drug school program in the country. In-service training for teachers and educational staff, concerning all aspects of alcohol and drug abuse, is available to both public and parochial schools, colleges, community groups, etc.

  The BCCA & DA employs a staff of highly qualified Student Assistance Counselors, all certified as CACs, with or working towards their Masters degree. The SACs are monitored and supervised on a weekly basis.A 24-hour help-line is available to the students and families of those school districts which contract with the BCCA & DA for the services of an SAC.
